The Packard Proving Grounds, built
in 1929 to test Packard automobiles, is a piece of automotive heritage of
national significance. Designed by famed architect Albert Kahn, the
Packard Proving Grounds lodge is a fine example of industrial architecture
in the Tudor Revival style. Currently undergoing restoration by the
Packard Motorcar Foundation, the Packard lodge retains most of its
original design, material, and character. The Carnival of Cars
contributes to the preservation of the Historic Packard Proving Grounds,
and serves as a wonderful backdrop for the display of classic and modern
automobiles during the Carnival of Cars.
