The 45th Annual
Carnival of Cars
June 8, 2008
Celebrating 80 years of Packard
The Historic Packard Proving Grounds opened in 1928 and served as the vehicle testing center for the Packard Motor Car Company until 1956. During the Second World War it was a testing area for tanks. Charles A. Lindbergh flew test flights from the airstrip located at the center of the field. The PPG is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is being restored by the Packard Foundation to become a valuable historic site in Shelby Township. A portion of the proceeds from the Carnival of Cars Event goes to support this important community resource.
